  • Alternative already eliminated The agency says it considered and eliminated the alternative the comment proposes, with a reason. Cannot be defeated from the comment text alone.
  • Already addressed The agency says its analysis already covers the point. Defeated when the comment cites the law itself: there is no analysis to cite against a statutory claim.

The comment

Dear Special Areas: Roadless Area Conservation, I am deeply concerned about the proposal to repeal the Roadless Rule. For 25 years, this rule has helped keep millions of acres of national forests intact. These are places where we hike, camp, fish, and explore the outdoors. They also preserve vital wildlife migration paths and protect the streams and rivers that provide drinking water for more than 60 million people. If the rule is repealed, nearly 45 million acres could become vulnerable to development. Once roads are built and forests are broken apart, it may be impossible to restore what was lost. Please don't slash protections that benefit people, wildlife, and communities. Instead, work with states, Indigenous groups, local residents, and land managers to address changing needs without repealing this essential rule. I urge you to change course and preserve the Roadless Rule for current and future generations. Sincerely, Barbara Rosenkotter skye@alumni.ucdavis.edu Sincerely, Ms. Barbara Rosenkotter
