Dear USDA Forest Service Planning Team,
I oppose the proposal to fully or partially rescind the Roadless Area Conservation Rule. I urge the Forest Service to select Alternative 1 (the No Action alternative) and keep the 2001 Roadless Rule fully intact.
As someone who lives in Anchorage and values Alaska's public lands, I rely on these intact landscapes for clean water, outdoor recreation, and wildlife habitat. The Roadless Rule protects roughly 58 million acres of national forests—including vital regions like the Tongass National Forest and the Kenai National Forest—without preventing legitimate, targeted local fuel treatments or recreation. Repealing these safeguards increases erosion, fragments critical habitat, and adds to the Forest Service's multi-billion-dollar road maintenance backlog.
Please keep the Roadless Rule in place.
Sincerely,
Laura Grossman
